Organic 101: what organic farming (and processing) doesn’t allow
New series from Nati
This. Cannot wait for the new Switch LED bulb to come out. Liquid convection sustainable bulbs? heck yes.
In the US alone an additional 5 millions tons of waste is generated each holiday season (that’s about 25% more garbage than we generate at other times of the year!).
Here are a couple of ideas for cutting down on waste:
- Wrap gifts in old newspaper or thrift store fabrics and ribbons
So telling people to be “Green” and “Sustainable” is all well and good, but what does it mean to actually live like that? Not as easy as you may think, and for someone with a decent income it’s easy to forget that those without means may not always have the luxuries of spending a bit extra on organic food or not using a car to drive to work. Kinda hard to walk/bike to work if you have to drop the kids off at school and work is a 45 min car ride away because you can’t afford to live that close. This blog is awesome and takes a look at the challenge of living green in a way that’s not meant to scare us away, but to increase our understanding of something that’s a bit more complex than just turning of our lights when we don’t use them.
Eco friendly van done the right way!
The next 10 years will be very unlike the last 10 years
Thanks Jesse!
This wildlife overpass near Banff National Park, combined with fencing that leads animals to it, is designed to give wildlife a way to cross over the interstate. It is now thought that underpasses work better for skittish animals too shy to cross out in the open.
